Study Abroad Student Outreach Coordinator and Ambassador Program
 
 
This year we have TWO opportunities. Students can apply to be a Study Abroad Student Outreach Coordinator. These students will receive a $100 stipend per semester. Or, students can opt to be a Study Abroad Ambassador, which is a volunteer position. Please read below for more information.
 
2018 Application Deadline
Please submit your application by the following deadlines:
Student Outreach Coordinators:
  • Application Opens May 7
  • Application Closes May 21
  • Preference for Student Outreach Coordinators will be given to students who can commit for the full academic year
Study Abroad Ambassadors:
  • Application Opens on June 19
Eligibility
  • Must be a BSU Study Abroad program alum (any short term, semester, academic year or summer program)
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA upon application that must be maintained throughout participation in program
  • Must be in good judicial standing with the Office of Student Conduct
Study Abroad Student Outreach Coordinator Requirements
  • Program commitment is for the academic year starting in August. We expect our Student Outreach Coordinators to commit approximately 1-2 hours per week each semester, though we will be flexible when needed
  • Attend a mandatory training session in August
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for:
    • BSU students interested in studying abroad
    • BSU students who have been admitted in to a study abroad program
    • International students currently on campus
  • Assist in advising during Study Abroad Office open office hours: each Coordinator will commit to at least one hour of office hours per week
  • As a team, create and market two events per semester in collaboration with the Study Abroad Office, such as:
    • Presentation to residence hall, student group, or other organizations
  • Attend and present at our events:
    • Study Abroad Fairs
    • Information tables
    • Lunch and Learn sessions
    • Admissions/Orientation events
    • Classroom Presentations
    • Pre-departure Orientation
  • Help coordinate Study Abroad Ambassador schedules and events
  • Follow BSU Study Abroad social media profiles; develop and engage with content
  • Provide photos and student profiles to be used to promote study abroad to the BSU community

  • This is not a paid position, but Student Outreach Coordinators will receive a $100 stipend at the end of each semester for their participation, pending completion of the position description
Study Abroad Ambassadors Requirements
  • Our Study Abroad Ambassadors will assist our Student Outreach Coordinators with events and tabling
  • Follow BSU Study Abroad social media profiles; develop and engage with content
  • Provide photos and ambassador profiles to be used to promote study abroad to the BSU community
  • Students who are not chosen for a Student Outreach Coordinator position will be automatically considered for our Study Abroad Ambassador program
