                          Respondus Lockdown Browser & Monitor

Respondus Lockdown Browser

Respondus Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. When you configure a Blackboard exam to require LockDown Browser, students will be unable to take the exam with traditional web browsers such as Chome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari,  access other applications, or use features like copy/paste and screen capture.  Review the Getting Started resources below to discover how to set up your exams in Blackboard so that your students are using the Respondus Lockdown Browser.

Students will need to download the BSU version of Lockdown Browser to take your exams.  Please direct them to https://download.respondus.com/lockdown/download.php?id=495635372

Note: Students cannot use the Lockdown Browser on a Chromebook device; it is available for Windows, Mac, and iPad only.

If you have a student who requires an accommodation through the Disability Resources Office, or who does not have the minimum technology requirements, there is a workaround solution for students in need.  Respondus generates a random password in the Test Options area of the exam.  You can copy that password and share it with select students.  Please contact us at ttc@bridgew.edu with questions.

Respondus Monitor

Respondus Monitor is used for live proctoring of online student exams using the student's webcam.  Respondus offers daily 45-minute training webinars with live Q&A, which is a great way for instructors to learn how to use Respondus Monitor for online proctoring.  Each session is followed by an extended Q/A period where questions are answered live.  See the link in the Helpful References section below.

Students can access built-in troubleshooting and live chat from within Respondus Monitor if they encounter a technical problem. For further details, see the Helpful References section below.
