Classroom/Lab Software Request Process
The Information Technology Division utilizes a software request form
for installing appropriate applications on campus classroom and lab computers
. All requests for instructional software for use on public computer workstations in classrooms, computer labs, the library, and other educational work spaces will be reviewed through the Information Technology division. This software requests process was created to ensure that software is available when and where it is needed, and that computers will not be overloaded with software no longer being used.
IT Funded Software vs. Department/College Funded Software
The Information Technology Division funds enterprise-wide software only, such as Blackboard and Microsoft Office. If you are pursuing specialized software specific to your department, please consult with your department chairperson or dean for funding.
Software Request Deadlines
Software requests should be submitted via the software request form
by the deadlines listed below for the desired semester to ensure enough time for evaluation, purchase/licensing, installation and testing. Software requests received after the deadlines will be evaluated for installation based on time and resources available.
||Software Request |
||First week in September
||Third week of January
||November 30 (for room changes only)|
Please note the following:
There is no need to request SPSS as BSU has a campus-wide license for faculty, staff and students
All classrooms/labs have the following software installed: Classroom/Lab Installed Software List
Please review IT's Software Support Policy
Software Requests for Office Desktop/Laptop
Best-pricing for software can be obtained by contacting the TTC (firstname.lastname@example.org) who will obtain a quote from approved vendors. The TTC will forward the quote to you for purchase within your department.
New Faculty Software Requests
If you are a new full-time faculty member, and you require specialized software for your office computer or courses, please consult with the Office of Academic Affairs who will review your software requests and fund them on a case-by-case basis.
