What's New in IT?

Fall 2016 Update

Information Technology has been busy serving the technology needs of the BSU community. Here are some new services to be aware of for fall 2016:

  1. 24x7x365 IT Help Desk

During normal business hours, requests for support are answered by BSU Information Technology staff. After hours support is provided by an external vendor. This extends support to 24x7x365 availability and accommodates the needs of remote students and faculty working online. Users may access Help Desk services via chat, email, phone or in-person at one of our two locations. View IT Support Info.

  2. Office 365 Employee/Staff Email

Over the summer, faculty and staff email was migrated to Outlook for O365. Now students, faculty and staff are on the same email system and can more easily collaborate with O365 tools. To access student email, login to the Student Portal at mycampus.bridgew.edu and click the email icon. Links to email are also found on the Intranet homepage under Quicklinks.

  3. Office 365 More

Office 365 provides BSU students, faculty and staff with a full suite of online productivity applications, including email, One Drive, Office Online, Office Pro Plus download for free, unlimited storage, and more. Office 365 accounts are automatically created when you claim your BSU User Account. To access Office 365, login to the Student Portal at mycampus.bridgew.edu and click the Office 365 icon. Learn more about O365.

  4. Digital Signage

Two new digital signs have been mounted on the underpass to better communicate important information with students.

  5. Mobile Responsive websites

The bridgew.edu site and intranet are now mobile friendly.

  6. Cloud PC

Cloud PC enables students, faculty and staff to access a virtual BSU computer lab PC, from anywhere, at any time, from any device, via the web. Learn more about Cloud PC.

  7. BSU Guardian

Another layer of campus security – personalized mobile safety – has been added at Bridgewater State University as students, faculty and staff can download a tailored Rave Guardian application called “BSU Guardian” on their Android or iPhone. Learn more about BSU Mobile Apps.

  8. One Button Studio

One Button Studio (OBS) in Maxwell Library 113 is a simple method for recording video presentations without requiring any tech experience, video production experience, or training and support. Learn more about One Button Studio.

  9. KwikBoost Power Station

BSU has two courtesy charging stations on campus, one in Moakley and one in Maxwell Library. The charging station has eight lockers, each of which offers different connections for a variety of devices – from Apple to Android phones and tablets to laptops.
