Networking: The Bridgewater State University Networking department provides wired and wireless high-speed Internet access and network security for all staff, faculty, students and guests of Bridgewater State University. Networking is also responsible for installation of cabling and back-end infrastructure for all University-owned technology devices. The Networking team also functions as an umbrella for two specific business units, Telecommunications and ResNet services.
Telecommunications: Telecommunication provides all local and long distance phone service for staff, faculty and vendors, as well as fax services and inter-campus communications. Further responsibilities include a campus Push-to-Talk voice network, ground-level planning in new campus construction projects, and maintenance of an extensive Emergency phone network. Ultimately, this group is responsible for the complete communications infrastructure for the University.
ResNet: ResNet, the residential network, provides phone, cable television, and internet services to the thousands of students living full-time on the Bridgewater State University campus. This group provides inter-campus and local dialing telephone service, distributes University television programs as well as channels from the local cable television company to residential students. ResNet is critical to ensuring resident students have access to a technology environment that resembles home, but is also highly conducive to learning, and reaching academic goals.
