How to Access a Shared Mailbox

You can view email in a shared mailbox you have permission to via both the full Outlook 2013/2016 client and online via the Office 365 web portal at https://portal.bridgew.edu

 
Access a shared mailbox in Outlook 2013/2016

 If you have permissions to a shared mailbox, the shared mailbox will automatically display in your Folder pane in Outlook after restarting your computer.

 
  1. Scroll down through the folder pane on the left side of your inbox below any subfolders to see a shared mailbox you have permission to view.  
  2. Click arrow to expand the Shared Mailbox and select Inbox to view email messages.

 
Add a shared mailbox in Office 365 Outlook Web Access
 
If you have permissions to a shared mailbox, you may also add it online via the Office 365 portal.

  1. From your web browser, go to Outlook via the Office 365 portal at https://outlook.bridgew.edu​ 
  2. Login with your <BSU_Username>@bridgew.edu and BSU password.
  3. On the left navigation pane, click 'More' under folders.
  4. Right click on your name.
  5. Click 'Add shared folder…' and enter the email address of the shared mailbox (i.e. Shared_mailbox@bridgew.edu)
  6. Click Add then scroll down the folder pane on the left side of your inbox to view the shared mailbox.  
  7. Click arrow to expand the Shared Mailbox and select Inbox to view email messages.
